Required Gear

WEAR APPROPRIATE CLOTHING FOR ANY ANTICIPATED WEATHER CONDITION – NOTE: YOU WILL BE OUTSIDE AND ACTIVE.

Rifle of your choice

  • Any rifle make / model (in accordance with the caliber parameters listed below). NOTE: If you plan to use your rifle in a future RX course, please see that course’s REQUIRED EQUIPMENT LIST for more specific details)
  • Rifle calibers allowed in this course: Minimum: .22 long rifle; Maximum: .300 Win Mag (consideration for potential muzzle blast fatigue on the shooters next to you)
  • Stock / Chassis design recommendations: should be able to attach a bi-pod
  • Optional: LEGAL Suppressors / Silencers are welcomed (in accordance with all of your local, State & Federal Laws)

Optics and Sighting Systems

  • Any configuration of optic or open sights is acceptable for this class. NOTE: If you plan to use your rifle optic in a future RX course, please see that course’s REQUIRED EQUIPMENT LIST for more specific details)

Ammunition

  • Bring at least 250 rounds of Match Grade Ammo

Peripheral Equipment

  • Bipods: Students are highly encouraged to use a rifle bipod. Recommended brands include Accu-Tac, Harris, Atlas, or other similar high quality brands. Leg Lengths: 6-9″ may be ideal (for thin to medium framed shooters), 9-13” (may be better for larger framed shooters). No long-leg or extra-tall bipod configurations.  Recommended bipod features include: Swiveling/canting design
  • Toe Support: A rear bag, shooting-sock, or sandbag will be very helpful
  • Optional: A shooting mat may be desirable for comfort
  • Hearing protection: Please bring adequate hearing protection that does not inhibit proper cheek weld to your rifle stock.
  • Weapon cleaning and lubrication equipment to include a cleaning-rod to knock out potential bore obstructions or stuck cases
  • Eye Protection
  • Raingear
  • Hat / Sunblock
  • Drinking water (camelback strongly recommended) – bring MORE water than you think you will need for the duration of the 2-day course
  • Bug Spray
  • Pen and Paper

Physical Fitness Requirements:  Must be physically able to lay prone for extended periods of time as well as get into and out of the prone position repeatedly. Be ready to shoot all day, even if potentially less than ideal temperature or precipitation conditions ensue. Take precautions for any pre-existing medical conditions. Be prepared for less than ideal weather conditions and potentially warm or hot weather.
